So, yesterday I had my meeting with "the Bobs" (anyone who's seen Office Space will get that reference...), and they told me that they decided to have only one copywriter position, instead of the two that they originally said. So, of course they put the manager in the copywriter position. And, since the other proofreader has been here longer, they kept him in the lead proofreader position. So, the Bobs (who are actually two women... so I guess I should call them the Bobettes) offered me a proposal coordinator position, which I would rather scrub floors than take. In that position, you have to do whatever it takes to get your proposal out the door, which entails working a lot of overtime, having an extremely irregular schedule, dealing with jerky clients, et cetera. It would make my life a living hell, and since I'm planning on moving to Vermont in June, when my lease is up, there's no point in making myself miserable. I'd rather just work temp jobs until then. I'll already be saving $165 a month in train passes and more money in city taxes, so I think this is going to work out to my advantage. Ultimately, my plan is to take the severance package they will give me (which should be about three weeks' pay) and start a temp job right away, so that I'll be making double the money and I can save to move to Vermont. Theoretically, it sounds like a good plan, so I hope I can make it work. So that, in a nutshell, is my job situation at the moment, for all of you who actually care. Wish me luck.
